Good evening readers :)

Been a while since I blogged, eh? Well, don’t have to miss me anymore. Pallavi is back! ;)

Well.. Today there has been a lot of talk about our elders’ responsibilities towards us, around me. Unfortunately, I could not join all those discussions, thanks to some technical issues with my FB profile 8-| duh! But here I am now :D

Straight to the issue - my two cents on that!

It is true that, parents, teachers and our elders are our decision makers. Our parents gave birth to us. They would always want the best for us. I feel that, in wanting the BEST for us, they have sorta pushed us into a path that is no less than a pressure cooker. True, we have resources in abundance now. But, the competition is even more fierce.

It is here that the educational institutions and colleges come in to picture. Their view of competition has changed from being the best in quality to being the best in business. See the large hoardings, posters and advertisements daily on the route from Koti to Naryanguda, from SR Nagar to Ameerpet, from Malekpet to Dilsukhnagar - it looks like a market of colleges. Is this what it has come to?

Competition is a healthy sport to bring the best quality from within us. Somehow, the educational institutions today have forgotten that. Their focus has shifted from being the best in student grooming, to being the best in name and fame.

Little do they realize that real value comes from practicing something real. Our educational institutions need to realize this pronto! Parents and other decision makers of students need to support each other and work towards the betterment of students.

Pallavi thinks - A collective effort is required to make something happen.

Why The Marks Don't Matter

akargosrani:

I just became (by the virtue of some luck) a Graduate. But somehow deep inside i don’t feel like one. There are a number of reasons for that. One of the primary reasons is the apathetic behavior of Mumbai University towards its students. I can compare it to one of the many Black Holes in space…

Just the degree is what matters in India! What a shame!
No one cares for skills!

Good morning

Pallavi is not happy today. This is not good for her. I’m supposed to be a happy, smiling person. But, that’s not what I am today. Some of you may wonder why? To some it may not matter. Anyway, this is my blog and I will post what I want to over here! :D

This morning, I came across a very disturbing situation. I met a first year B.Tech student who has no aims of becoming an engineer. Why then did he take admission in to B. Tech, I asked him? His answer disturbed me a lot. He said, ‘My parents told me. That’s why. I don’t want to do this. I want to become an Animation Designer. But my parents want me to become an engineer.”

His sad face told the entire future of his life - It was going to be a sad life for him.

Why is this happening in India? Why do parents and our elders not realize how important it is for a child to excel in what he/she enjoys? For too long we have blamed our education system for making us dull and incompetent individuals. The fact is, we ourselves (the so called decision makers of our youngsters) have never given value to the education system.

We have always put value to marks rather than to skills. We put value to a degree rather than talent. We are the ones who have corrupted the education system.

If at all, any of us like to see some change in the value of youth, put value to education!
